Why your choice of therapist matters:
Hello. When deciding if a therapist will be right for you, I feel it's important to understand why someone chose to enter the industry. The below is my journey:
I didn’t go down the typical route in becoming a registered massage therapist. In fact, when I started out training, most of my fellow students were almost the same age as my son!
That didn’t deter me, as I knew I was joining the industry for the right reasons: to help people lead happier and more fulfilling lives. I experienced this first-hand from my earliest days in the profession - offering massage on a voluntary basis to those undergoing treatments for cancer. I saw with my own eyes how massage works as a tool to help the mind, body and soul. That belief still leads everything I do.
After qualification, I met some wonderful people and grew as a therapist at local businesses like Titanic Spa and Alexandra House. I will forever be grateful for the opportunities those companies afforded me. However, I later took the big leap to work for myself as I had a different vision for how treatments could help people just like you.
Today, I'm Vocational Training Charitable Trust qualified massage therapist, and a proud member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Running my own business has allowed me to stamp my own values on it. I believe people shouldn’t feel rushed. That you should be allowed to mix and match treatments during a session if that feels right for you. And that massage should be available to everyone regardless of age, sex, size or shape. We are all individuals, and that should be respected and applauded.
